Service Club History

The Sleepy Hollow Service Club was organized in 1973 by a small group of village residents who agreed on a need for a service organization dedicated to the enhancement of life in Sleepy Hollow through a variety of civic projects.

The club founders wasted no time in putting their ideals into action. From the minutes of the first regular meeting of the Service Club, the following projects were planned: mow Sleepy Hollow Park, erect and improve street markers and signs, repair entranceways, repair dams and improve lakes for better fishing, and assist with the Fourth of July Fireworks Program. By the fall of that year, these projects were completed and others were underway or planned.

The Sleepy Hollow Service Club was off to a rousing start and had established a lasting legacy.
